Snowfall effect in Photoshop

People uses different software apps to edit their photos and images. Photoshop is a great tool we use to design images and edit photos. You can also give your photos some great effects. This article will teach you how you can give beautiful snowfall effect in Photoshop.

Snowfall effect in Photoshop

  • Open you image in Photoshop.

  • Create a new layer.

  • Create new fill or adjustment layer → Solid Color.

  • Fill the color with black and press OK.

  • Select ‘Filter’ menu from menu bar. Go to Pixelate → Mezzotint, then select OK for the message appeared on the screen.

  • Select type: Coarse Dots and press OK.

  • Go to ‘Image’ menu from menu bar then Adjustments → Levels.

  • Now set values as shown in image below. i.e. 133, 2.14, 169 and press OK.

  • Now in ‘Layers’ Tab, change ‘Normal’ → ‘Screen’

  • Almost done, but there is no depth. Repeat the following steps from above.
    • Create a new layer.
    • Create new fill or adjustment layer → Solid Color.
    • Fill the color with black and press OK.
    • Select ‘Filter’ menu from menu bar. Go to Pixelate → Mezzotint, then select OK for the message appeared on the screen.
    • Select type: Coarse Dots and press OK.
    • Go to ‘Image’ menu from menu bar then Adjustments → Levels. This time set values as 103, 1.58, 195 and press OK.
  • Just 2 more steps, Go to ‘Filter’ menu then Pixelate → Crystallize.
  • Set cell size = 12 and press OK.
  • Now again in ‘Layers’ Tab, change ‘Normal’ → ‘Screen’.
  • Just last step, go to ‘Filter’ menu then ‘Blur’ → ‘Motion Blur’.
  • Set Distance = 18 to 20 pixels.
  • That’s all, here is our final image below.
